Financial planning often brings up important questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions Mike receives from individuals and families in the Dunwoody community. If you have additional questions, Mike is always happy to speak with you directly.
What does it cost to work with you?
There is absolutely no cost or obligation to go through the process. There is only a cost should you decide to implement the plan. This gives you plenty of time to get to know us, ask any questions, and understand your plan fully before you ever pay a dime. We wish we could tell you how much it will cost to implement your plan. However, until we go through the process, we don’t even know what your plan will entail. So, providing you with a quote is not possible.
What does the financial planning process actually include?
Depending on your situation, a financial plan with Mike may include a retirement income needs analysis, an insurance review, a debt reduction strategy, an investment analysis, Social Security and pension planning, a review of how your property and accounts are titled, and an emergency fund assessment. Not every plan needs every piece; we start by understanding your situation and build the plan around what actually applies to you.
What is it like to actually work with you day to day?
Relaxed and conversational, not intimidating. Most first meetings feel more like a genuine conversation than a formal presentation. Mike will ask questions, listen more than he talks at first, and make sure you understand every recommendation in plain language, not jargon. You should leave a meeting with more clarity than you walked in with, not more confusion.
Do you act as a fiduciary, and will I have online access to my accounts?
Yes, Mike acts as a fiduciary, which means he's legally required to act in your best interest, not just recommend what's suitable. You'll also have secure online access to your accounts at all times, so you're never wondering where things stand.
Do we have to come into your office?
Atlanta traffic is horrible! While you are always welcome to come into the office, in many cases Mike can meet you at your home, office, or a place of convenience for you. Alternatively, Mike works with many clients who are out of town or out of state. He handles all of these meetings via Zoom.
Who will be our point of contact after the plan is complete?
Mike remains your direct point of contact, supported by a back-office team that helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. You're never routed to a call center or a rotating cast of unfamiliar reps.
Why does it matter that Mike is part of the Dunwoody community?
Financial planning is personal, and it's easier to trust someone who isn't a stranger passing through. Mike has lived and worked in this community for years. Through the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, his kids’ schools, tennis teams, and Sunday school classes, Mike has built a life for himself and his family that he truly values. There can be comfort in knowing that your family’s planning is in the hands of someone who has deep ties to the community.
Do you only work with clients who live in Dunwoody?
Not at all. While Dunwoody is home, Mike works with clients throughout the greater Atlanta area and beyond, including out-of-state clients he meets with regularly over Zoom. Dunwoody is where his roots are, not a limit on who he can help.
